The 2014 HGTV Dream Home

This was the 6th home that I've chronicled from beginning to end.

HGTV ran late this year with the clues for the next Dream Home location. Last year we had our first clue by April 12. They finally made reference to the Dream Home 2014 in their blog on May 21st 2013, and the first clue came two days later. As clues were given I posted them here until we found out the official 2014 location. It's in California near Lake Tahoe!

The grand prize included a furnished 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath, 3,200 sq ft home located in the four-season family community of Schafferâs Mill, a $250,000 cash prize, and a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali.

This contest's entry period ended February 14, 2014 and the winner was announced on March 18th.

May 26th: My guess is near the Grand Canyon.
May 29th: My guess has changed to Mount Rose in Nevada.
May 31st: My guess is still near Mount Rose, but on the California/Nevada state line.
June 2nd: Looks like it's a bit west of where I thought. People are saying it's located at Schaffer's Mill.
June 3rd: It's official! Schaffer's Mill it is!

Update: Guestbook commenter LillieH let us know that the house is on lot 186.

• The community is in Truckee, California near Lake Tahoe.
• The site has views of the Carson Mountain Range.
• The lot is 1/3 acre.
• The 3,200 sq ft home will have 3 bedrooms, and 3 1/2 baths.
• It's been designed by Ward-Young Architecture.
• It's being built by Tanamera Construction.

The upper level includes two bedrooms and a media room.

First Floor

The main level includes the master bed & bath, living room, kitchen, and dining room, as well as laundry, a 1/2 bath, mud room, 2 car garage, and an outdoor living space.
