Natural Bamboo Roman Shades
When we renovated our kitchen it took us about three years to decide on window treatments. The space has 4 large windows and 2 doors leading out to our yard. We finally decided on bamboo roman shades. While you can get them in darker colors, the natural bamboo goes really well with our cabinets.
I really like the texture of these as opposed to fabric shades, and I think the color variation of the wood is beautiful. I also love that the weave pattern of alternating bamboo slats and sticks let light in the room even when the shades are down. The built in valance finishes off the look nicely.
After installing these we purchased bamboo roll up blinds for our master bedroom, but I much prefer the roman shades. The roll up blinds are harder to control, and we're always having the strings pop out of place. We don't have any problems with the roman shades. The only thing you have to be mindful of is keeping the bottom level when you lock them in place as you raise or lower them.
If I were buying bamboo shades today I might look for the cordless options. They cost a bit more, but they wouldn't have pulls that our dogs can chew on. If you are a family with babies or toddlers they would be a safer option as well.
Think about choosing bamboo for your home decor because it's an eco-friendly material, it's durable, it's relatively inexpensive, and it's quite pretty.
